>>21963938Gold's team is similar to Red's in that it's based off landmark encounters from his respective game.
He uses Lv. 52 Sudowoodo, Lv. 53 Meganium, Lv. 53 Typhlosion, Lv. 52 Feraligatr, Lv. 53 Lugia, and Lv. 56 Ho-Oh.
Upon beating him the credits roll, but instead of waking up at home like normal I find myself in a completely new location, Ender Isle, with a one-way exit that takes you back to the Cerulean Cave entrance.
The island consists of a single building where Koa's aide, the Gym assistant, your rival, and the two programmers of the game, Torotix and Freako, congratulate you and thank you for playing the game to the end.
Overall, if you can get past the sprites, Bronze is a lovely vanilla hack. No new mechanics, no epic plot, it just tries to be an entertaining game that follows the Pokémon formula and it succeeds very well. It has a level curve similar to the original games (if Kanto were gone and Red were about 25 levels lower so you wouldn't need to grind), the memes and references are few and far between compared to some other hacks, and it has a few little optional side areas like the laboratory that make the game feel a lot more complete. I do wish they made the parts of Kanto you do go to less barren and lifeless if it's going to let you go to them, but that's honestly the only thing I'd qualify as a major flaw. I'd definitely recommend the game to anyone looking for a fun vanilla experience.
I'll continue playing through the /vr/ recommendations tomorrow, though, again, if there's anything anyone wants me to play I'll get to it. I won't turn a game down unless it lags like hell like Zeta or bores me to tears like Ash Gray, or if it was played for /rhg/ in the last couple months.
