The same thing is going to happen again in the future eventually. The power creep will never stop, and more tiers are going to have to be made in order to keep some type of balance. It won't happen overnight, but I would't be surprised if there were 10+ tiers by the end of it all. Still, more tiers = more fun in my opinion.
