Never have I come across an opinion so completely opposite my own. Nevertheless I did like the GTS station music, Spear Pillar (outside theme?), and that one route leading north out of the Battle Tower place. Good stuff.

Why is gen IV so fucking underrated? I replayed Platinum recently and I enjoyed it so damn much. It also had HG/SS, which are objectively the best pokemon games so far.

In all reality though, one or two years will probably be cumulatively skipped so 4-5 years sounds accurate.

FRLG - 2004
HGSS - 2009
ORAS - 2014

I agree that it's underrated though, if you ignore graphical advances Sinnoh is one of the coolest regions. And it definitely has the best and most fitting music.

Sinnoh had good overworld music (routes, caves, etc.) but dear lord almost all the battle songs were awful. It's just weak percussion and boring/flat sounding instruments everywhere (especially the wind ones).

That's why I said "almost". But honestly, these two, the galactic admin, lake pixie and giratina battle themes are probably the only ones I like, and the palkia/dialga battle theme you linked still feels kinda weak. Fortunately, it isn't as much of a snoozefest as the gym leader and wild battle themes.
