So i've been playing pokemon since Gen 1, but only now am I starting to play online and really delve into the meta game with battling.
And it's not that I necessarily disagree with smogon's rule sets, but what makes them the arbiter of pokemon meta-game rules? Why does everyone listen to them?
I suppose I understand the need for a ruleset but surely only playing with people following smogons rules would limit you, right? Especially in random online matches - I doubt you'd ever find anyone playing by rules there.
Like I said, I'm new to the meta game so i'm a big ol' dumb with this sort of thing.
