cozier? HGSS.. following pokemon, the historic atmosphere - as if you're living in a simpler time, and the nostalgia for most

DPPt has its places but the region feels lonely to me. away from everything, snowy cold climates and the distortion world gives it a creepish vibe. its interesting but not as completely cozy as johto

My point goes to Platinum. Platinum is my favorite game and HGSS comes from my least liked Gen so yeah, makes sense.

Hm. I'd say HG/SS = Pt > DP

Platinum just built so much onto DP that DP feel incomplete in comparison. But they were both great, and to be honest I actually enjoyed the pokewalker.

HG/SS. So cozy. The marathon thing and the two regions and the self-containedness and the coziness just made for an outrageously comfortable experience. I'm getting warm fuzzies just thinking about it.

Nice trips. Also, for sure. The Pokewalker and the Pokeathlon combined with the daily events and 2 regions with a bunch of secrets never let you run out of things to do. If I had one game to play on a desert island, it'd probably be HG/SS with all the Pokewalker courses.

The Distortion World actually wasn't that bad compared to the Old Chateau. It's out of the way presence, strange amount of detail, and really no reason to exist (other than Rotom) just really felt out of place in the Pokemon universe. The OC's music alone is creepier than most shitty indie horror games. Plus we never got a real explanation of the floating ghost sprites. We can infer that they were just Gengar, but the average 8 year old playing wouldn't.

Hard choice. HGSS is cozy as fuck, Johto isn't even my favorite but there's something about the music, the rural feel of the region, the whole atmosphere is super comfy.

On the other hand, DPPt has great music too and I love Sinnoh. Might have to give a slight edge to HGSS but Platinum is a really close second.

Meanwhile Johto is just so boring. There really isn't a single fun thing about the region.

These, the atmosphere is great. The forests, small hamlets, and seaside cities with their own themes and music, the people and the things you see and do, the scale of the world... Johto is a very comforting region. Without disparaging other regions, it is probably my favorite, tied with Hoenn.

Adding in for HGSS, plenty of rural Japan to explore full of tradition and 90's technology, the legends really feel ingrained into the world and the cultures of the Johto people, and you have Kanto bringing in the new world to just strike a great balance. The features in HGSS themselves like the Pokewalker, following Pokemon, a mom calling to check up on you, a Pokeathlon somewhat reminiscent of the minigames in Pokemon Stadium... the region just feels like the home you and your Pokemon belong in after journeying elsewhere. There's just plenty to do with them and a lot to see.

This song has made me, a person who hates DPPt, want to replay Platinum.

Snowpointe is one of the best towns ever in any Pokemon game. My favorite region is Hoenn, but the snowy routes in Northern Sinnoh were cool

I dislike the Sinnoh storyline though.

I almost completely agree with this. DPPt were pretty cozy too, maybe even moreso than HGSS. That part REALLY depends on personal opinion I guess.

What exactly do people find cozy about Kanto/Johto anyway? The routes are kind of bland in my opinion and the cities aren't anything incredible; the music isn't as cozy as DPPt's either in my opinion, I really prefer the piano/bass-heavy music of DPPt to HGSS's music.

Johto is a traditional place. Very homely and nice. Like the antithesis of Unova.
Also the connection to another region made it seem more like an actual world, rather than how strangely isolated the other regions are.
All help to add immersion.
