Sup /vp/, I'm new to the series, just wondering how I should "complete" Pokemon games? Obviously beat the Elite Four, but should I aim for the highest level trainer card, catch 'em all, etc? The main games seem pretty barebones (from what I've played so far)

2) Organize 'em all to your heart's content in your boxes. I know you have a plan.
3) Start going for better IVs so you can play endgame content (aka using Smogon teams on wifi)

Thanks. I'm actually starting with the older games (GBC) so I'm not looking into IVs and EVs yet.

I'd recommend starting with Generation III, since you can keep all your Pokemon from that point onward. Gen 1 and Gen 2 are still fun though so long as you know which glitches are in effect. If you're starting with Gen II, use it as an opportunity to learn the breeding system, since the IV system was changed after that anyways,

Eh, IV/EVs are a bitch in older games, so don't bother with that.

If you're playing 151/251/386/493 hacks (which you should be doing), then complete the dex to the content of your heart unless you use some emulator that allows trading, and still, catching them all is impossible in GBA and later games thanks to the event only mons.

If available, try also beating the postgame facilities such as the Battle Tower or Frontier.

start with gen 3
FRLG are remakes of RBY and HGSS is a remake of GS. No point in playing the outdated versions.
