I didn't really study Japanese but Chesnaught in the 3rd panel is just wishing Greninja luck getting into Smash.

Maybe in usage? Think about it, Thematically, Emboar w/ Thick Fat would have a niche ofbeing about to switch into fire and ice moves for Ferrothorn and some other moves with 4x Fire and Ice weaknesses. Samurott with Adaptability would work very well because of how samurai follow the bushido code. It'd still be shit, but, it'd be usable

Gen VI has some very good starters, but I still really like Gen 1 the best. They all kind of feel monsterous somehow and it's fitting of pokemon's origins.

Gen IV are really good too, Infernape, is awesome, Toreterra is probably the best design for a starter, and Empoleon's cool too.
