>>21983695In part , I miss the hype because it was fucking everywhere and nothing has really penetrated such a big market space at once since. I mean, the video games, tcg, toys, tv show, clothes, dolls, skateboards, electronic battle figures, collectibles, cereal, snacks, Mac and cheese, coins, kid's meal toys, promotional tie ins, movies in theaters, etc. just fucking everywhere at once. It was on the news, on commercials, just bombarding you everyday. Pikachu getting a float was huge.
But there were a huge amount of people in it to ride the hype. People who used it to promote Christian values or "my agenda" (to be clear, Jynx was barely an issue compared to Porygon and Evolution), assholes selling shit online for outrageous prices, and just normalfags who barely touched the games talking like they know shit because they read it on a fansite (not rumors like Pokegods because most of us fell to one of those after Missingno. was a reality). Those are the people nostalgic about the games but who couldn't get past Blastoise in naming the dex.
So I miss the unique atmosphere because I wish I could share that feeling with my niece and nephews. I don't miss the dumb shit that came with it and have stayed since.
