I thought Mega Gengar and Mega Kangaskhan weren't going to be nearly as good as they turned out to be

Mostly that was before I knew the former had Shadow Tag when it lost Levitate and all the "lol earthquake" naysayers were right. Plus before I knew the former got perish song.

I'm still not entirely keen on Kangaskhan, it just seems like it's perfect to die to the muskadeers to me even with wish and seismic toss. I mean yeah, it's obviously good with those base stats and PUP with basically a substitute-breaking choice band, but I thought it was going to be a Houndoom/Abomasnow-tier mega for a while there.

In which universe are those throwaway mons? I know, Kanga was like NU before the mega, but it was more a shitmon than one of those things you see en mass during your playthrough and dont think much about.

You didn't really define "throwaway mon" at all. Besides, everyone got a kangaskhite and gengarite along with several dozen other mega stones.

You could easily look at how you have fucking 30 of these things and see some of them as throwaway megas.
