>>21997827>The previous gens mostly had its starters being somewhat generic examples of the type, made to demonstrate what you can expect from a Grass Pokemon, a Water Pokemon and a Fire Pokemon.I never thought about it like that before. The starters were pretty special Pokemon in III and IV, with maybe the exception of Swampert being your standard blue-colored brick (while being one of the best at it for his type, like Venusaur).
Gen V had a Gen I & II style set of demonstrative Pokemon overall, except Emboar who still wasn't very special among full national dex mons. Gen VI strived for unique Pokemon again, but I'm not sure it succeeded with Delphox.
