The point where a franchise "dies" is a very long time after they stop making new entries. Pokemon will be alive for as long as I am, because I'll keep replaying the games, unless I start disliking Pokemon, in which case I wouldn't care, now, would I?

Hardly, they sold about the same as other 'enhanced' versions. Albeit, they were two games but that doesn't mean to expect twice as many sales.
