For what reason? Many Pokemon already have names derived from other languages. Hell, the Japanese names are just Japanese words, sounds, etc.. Also, naming Pokemon after characters/things in media has been around as long as the game itself.

I used to name things "seriously," but I realized it was pretty stupid. In XY I decided to fuck it and make nicknames completely ironic gibberish. And not even keyboard mashing. Actual bullshit words that I either vaguely based off of some quality of the Pokemon, or just nothing at all. When you do that, you end up with a Hall of Fame team like

I only have one latin nickname in my main party, but it is one of my favorites. Sphyrna my Garchomp. Love that name.
Also, I name most of my Pokemon after metal/rock bands that I feel fit their style. Primus the Nidoking, Gojira the Tyranitar, Tyr the Tyrantrum, Mastodon the Mamoswine, Argus the Aggron, Opeth the Mewtwo, and so on...

Not that guy, but gen 1 carts often are still usable with their original battery because they don't use an internal clock like G/S/C do. That uses up way, way more power over time than simply holding a save.

meh, I usually have a reason for my nicknames. Groudon-> terry as it is ground type and Terry is similar to Terra for ground
Kyogre-> gilliam, as it is a giant fish most likely with gills,
and together they form Terry Gilliam, one of my favorite actors.

In general I nickname pokemon with names like people's names, but with some element relating to them.
