Did anyone decide to lose to their rival in the Credits battle? Did it change their dialogue at all? Do you white out? I'm one button away from winning, but curiosity has me frozen.

The AZ battle didn't change anything if you lost so I would assume this is the same. IDK for sure though.

OP here, I ended up going through with just winning the fight out of not wanting to sit through the whole fight at 2:00 AM. That said, the dialogue doesn't seem to have much in the way of needing a specific victory, so my best guess is that nothing changes. Still, can anyone confirm this?

I can confirm that absolutely nothing changes. I watched a speedrun and Kyogre dies to Mega Sceptile. It's literally the same lines. "Just what I'd expect from the Champion!"
