I heard a story once about an Eevee that was friendly, affectionate and loving to it's trainer and all of the trainer's other pokemon.
Then the asshole forced it to evolve into a Jolteon. Now, I like all Eeveeolutions, but this poor pokemon stopped playing with it's trainer, other pokemon and then eventually stopped eating and died.
I think that it was because it felt that it's trainer didn't love it enough at is was or maybe wanted to evolve into another pokemon or just wanted to stay an Eevee forever.
That's why I give all of my Eevee Everstones until they are old enough to realize that an Eeveeolution is forever and are SURE that they want to evolve.
I have a Sylveon that was really depressed when it evolved until I told it that the only reason why it evolved at all was because I love it so much. After that, I spent a whole week just playing with, training and pampering him until he understood that his Eeveeolution was because of our friendship.
And anyone who abuses a pokemon deserves to be thrown into a garbage compactor feet first.
