For those of you playing around with DexNav, how long was it before you got anything interesting, like three stars on Potential or a shiny?

I was at search level 30 for I think feebas or something. Best I got was one with one star and dragonbreath before i decided to do other things.

I guess probably 50 would be the 2 stars and 100 would get you 3 star'd pokemon?

Ralts 3-Star, Docile Nature and stats were in Defence, Attack and Special Defense. Not worthwhile, but 3-Stars.

20-something-eth try. I was hunting for a Jolly/Adamant to use Synchronize on future catches.

My first REAL worthwhile catch was a Slakoth with IVs in Atk, HP and Defense. Lax Nature on the 12th DexNav attempt for him.

Ended up accidentally trading him on Wonder Trade when it should have been one of the useless no-star Slakoths.

Hidden Ability is still fairly uncommon, though.

My Dexnav level for Ralts is 103 because I've encountered 103 Ralts.

I was using it to find Trubbish so I could steal their Black Sludge and I caught a three star Trubbish.Its now a Garbador and I want to know what moveset would work best for it,since I have never used Garbador until now.

Dexnav is nearly a perfect feature
>Lets you find a specific mon you've caught regardless of encounter rate
>Perfect for casuals who dont breed since egg moves, HA, and up to 3 IV
>Good for everyone since it made HA available during regular playthroughs
My Moxie Mightyena put in work on my playthrough it was great.
If they keep dex nav I hope they fix my like, 3 gripes with it.

It's been proved that they don't break randomly.

If you take more than 20 steps getting to the pokemon, the chain will break.

If an NPC touches the bastard, the chain will break

If you run too fast, the chain will break.

IMO the moving assholes is the most bullshit feature, as you are limited on the number of steps you can take, and there is a time component.

There's a reason why the TV show details how long it takes for you to chain

No shiny to show for it though. My longest chain was 75 for Absol. Fucking repels ran out while I was next to a shaking spot so I'd figure I could make it to the spot. Linoone certainly showed me whats up before I could make it.

When DexNav chaining, you find a lot of those.
Basically on a chain of 100 you find at very least 5 Pokemon with 3 star potential.

The longer the chain, the better the odds of interesting pokemon pop up.

Example
At a chain of ~10 you get like 1 or 2 star potential. Or 1 start potential and HA.
But later, you tend to find pokemon that have good potential, egg move and HA at the same time more often.

I got myself 3 star potential swablu with HA and some egg-move. Captured it just to see if the potential is IV or not. Other than that, nothing really worth catching.

You get much more control through breeding and with hexa parents you get at least 5 guaranteed IV's, so why not.

Me actually. I found a shiny skitty on a chain of 80, again it was a fifth mon of that chain, which tend to be higher level and various other features.

After 100, the level resets, and the quality of mons seem to match when you first start out the chain, although the 100th mon seems to have the best everything (at least when I encountered it).

Really depends on how long they spent developing it. I know GF constantly takes out features, but they didn't take out Amie because they spent a shit load of time developing it. And even if it is gone, the Friend Safari will be back.

There were few times yesterday while I was chaining larvesta that after an encounter (fainting/catching), not moving, the dexnav search would fail. May be because the grass is a tad small/narrow on the island I was on, but I'm not sure.

Why do you guys keep on calling it chaining? There's no proof that DexNav functions in any way like PokeRadar. Even if it did, you have to start a search again each time you finish fighting/running from/scaring the pokemon, so why complain when your psuedo-chain is "broken"?

Tried to chain for a shiny Swablu, got to around search level 350 pls no bully before I just gave up. I'd get a chain of 20 and then they'd just disappear completely.

Around search level 40-50 for three stars to pop out reasonably. Beyond level 50, it's more reasonable to get three star, egg move, and hidden ability finds. Doesn't seem to improve much by level 100, seems to have plateau'd at that point.

Maybe search level 30 for hidden ability + egg move combos.

I've tried it for Shroomish, going from 1-50 several times. Also for Oddish. A bit for the other pokemon, but not to the same extent as these two.

I'm tired. I got this game on release day and I haven't even beat the 3rd gym.

If you have Synchronize in your party. It triggers once your DexNav finds it. So changing to another Synchronize pokemon before actually encountering it is not going to do shit. This has happened to me around 3 times now so I'm sure at this point it wasn't just a coincidence.

I have only gotten one shiny (and synchronize didn't even work) though so far in my experience, it seems it's the search level that matters more, chaining is just for increasing the level (though it's hard to say whether it actually affects shiny chance, I got mine 4 pokemon into a chain so I must have just been lucky).

You must only move while you're searching. Then you won't trigger random pokemon.

You don't need to look in another spot, you just need to run around (while searching so you don't trigger random pokemon) to recharge it.

Make sure you stop if it doesn't find anything, then search again, AND only move while it's searching so you don't trigger any random pokemon if I haven't mentioned it enough already.
