Has anyone ever thought they were just doing whatever and putting a random photo in because hey it's a game and they just wanted to have fun with it and not everything is a definitive sign to some weird deep lore and history or hint towards something?

except they're going out of there way to talk about it, with characters having tons of dialogue talking about past, present, multiple dimensions, and all sorts of weird shit with an entire cryptic character introduced saying weird shit.

Plus the still relatively unresolved bit with Az, the immortal.

I think it's okay to read into the last two storylines as "getting pretty fucking weird, man."
