>>22049203>>22049244As for the challenge:
>CyndaquilYou will have an easy time in the beginning, blazing through the Sprout Tower and Bugsy's Bug Pokémon with ease.
However in the middle part of the game, your Quilava can face difficulties, such as the fight against Whitney and Morty. Jasmine on the other hand, will be a cake walk.
In the end game, Typhlosion is overall balanced.
>TotodileYou will have an average normal difficulty in the beginning, nothing remarkable. However 2 things stick out like a sore thumb: Totodile is weak to the Sprout Tower so you'll need a companion Pokémon early. The fight against Bugsy can give you trouble aswell.
In the middle game, you'll find that your Croconaw has an easier time, as he can bite through Morty's Ghost types. You'll still have some difficulty with Whitney, and if you did not bring a correct counter, Jasmine and Chuck aswell.
In the late game, Feraligatr is a valuable asset. With SURF, Ice Punch and Slash, you have a formidable Pokémon.
>ChikoritaIn the early game, you'll be struggling for a bit. It is weak to the Sprout Tower, Falkner and Bugsy. This all means it is impossible to solo your way through. You'll need a companion Pokémon or 2 to survive the early part of the game. If you're playing Crystal, I suggest catching a Growlithe west of Violet city, near the patch of grass next to the wiggling tree Sudowoodo.
In the middle game, Bayleef will not disappoint. It shines against Whitney, and by simply using correct status moves, you'll have an easy time with the rest of the gyms. Bayleef can become a supporting toolbox for your other Pokémon, or be the main damage dealer with moves such as Body Slam.
In the late game, Meganium has it better off than the other 2 starters. Arguably the hardest fight in the game is versus Lance, and Meganium can make short work of him, without needing any TMs like Feraligatr does.
