Why are you against such an "insignificant feature"?
If you really don't care then don't fucking change the background, but for those of us who would like a little change of scenery this would be a great feature.
ORAS has the best battle backgrounds of any pokemon game, it just seems like a waste to not use any of them for multiplayer battles.

We can change the battle music, there isn't much of a reason to not have select-able scenery options considering they seemed to be going with the whole holo slant with current online field. It would just be a projection.

People are against an insignificant feature because there's larger problems to address with the games. Not to mention the OP is kind of being a retard by saying that no option to change backgrounds means he's reconsidering his decision of buying the game, which is borderline on actual autism to care that much over insignificant shit.
