They always seem to have a hard time providing a diversity in new fire types with new regions. Usually they save it by adding old fire types, but I tend to be autistic with wanting to use that gen's Pokemon when I play in a region.
I'm sure you could say this about a couple other types (like Dragon, but at least that one's supposed to be a "special" type so its somewhat excusable), I just tend to notice it with Fire the most:
Funny thing is that at least Hoenn lets you have a choice of some of the new Pokemon. The only region that gave more is Unova, where the entire point was to use a team of new Pokemon anyway.

IIRC literally the only gen 2 fire type available before postgame was Cyndaquil. I don't get why they stuck so many of the new-gen Pokemon over in Kanto.
