Best soundtrack? BW2. They went all out. They took risks and parts of it feel very experimental for the music in a Pokemon game. There are so many memorable themes in that game.

It's a remake, man. I think they wanted to keep things kinda true to the original.

I think this one is pretty good. Honestly I was expecting generic Wally "Try as hard as you can" theme, but was pleasantly surprised when I got this. It actually made me feel like he was a genuine threat before the E4.

Alot of them sound like they were remixes just for the sake of it, only a few of them actually went the extra mile like the Archie/Maxie theme. Regular battle, trainer battle, gym battle, elite, and champion themes were all pedestrian as fuck.

Aside from the Xerneas/Yvaltal theme and Diantha's theme, I found most of the music to be bland. None of them really stand out to me and even the town themes are boring.

Champion themes in general are good, except for Iris'. Hers was a clusterfuck that I fucking detested.

BW had the best city themes though.

It's definitely inspired by Shimomura though.
Kageyama also did the BW Route 10 theme which Shimomura did a remix of in Smash.
