And this is how I would simplify it.
GF's type chart is so difficult to keep balanced because of the number of types and the ever-increasing number of mons. I attempted to neutralize the first factor by reducing the number of types from eighteen to eleven by rolling together redundant types.
This ones probably not 100% balanced ether.

Physical - normal + fighting
Fire
Electric
Cold - redefined Ice
Earth - Rock + Ground + Grass
Sky - redefined flying
Water
Paranormal - Psychic + Ghost + Fairy
Crawling - Bug + Dark + Poison (in my skin, I know)
Dragon
Steel

I want them to redo movepools. It annoys me how wide every Pokemon's goddamn movepool is. Why does every water Pokemon get ice beam but ice Pokemon don't get shit? Why does every fighting type get a rock move so that they have perfect coverage? Why do so many Pokemon get urfquake?

I like the reduction of types. I'd have:

Grass/Bug becomes Grass
Psychic/Fairy becomes Magic
Ground/Rock becomes Earth
Dark/Ghost becomes Dark

So we have: Normal, Earth, Fire, Water, Grass, Ice, Electric, Fighting, Poison, Flying, Magic, Dark, Dragon, Steel.

I decided not to change the real effectiveness of Fighting on Steel. Going on the qi idea that a concentrated kick or punch can smash through anything solid. Maybe crap reasoning, I dunno.
