I went there once like 6 or more years ago, when it was still called the Pokemon Center, not Nintendo World, and it used to be awesome. Lots of selection in plushes, tons of varied toys, pokemon cards, figurines.
Now I've actually become a NYC anon as of this summer, and visited the store twice since I moved here, both at the end of summer and recently to pick up pokemon and smash on launch. The nintendo history exhibit is pretty cool, but some people here are saying it's pokemon, but it's not, it's general nintendo history.
The store overall is lackluster now for buying things besides actual games. The pokemon stuff has little focus anymore, just a little nook upstairs with all the pokemon stuff. Cards, an action/play figure package selection, and a little wall of the small collectable figures, which despite how large the display of those is they have a very small selection. Like there's 20 rows of pikachus, 10 rows of groudon, etc. The plushes are as has been said already, the best part, but such a limited selection ever since they stopped being a pokemon center.
The rest of the store is pretty bland imo. Nothing good unless you want nintendo theme knex sets, board games for really little kids, and t-shirts/hats/mugs. The pokemon stuff I think most people here would be interested in grabbing or collecting have been sized down a lot in favor of the shirts and general nintendo junk.
It's not a total lost cause, but I really miss the glory days of the pokemon center over the new nintendo world.
