Some of the stuff gamefreak does is total bullshit, but the battle frontier would've wasted a ton of time and resources. It's literally just a bunch of shitty gimmicks mixed with the traditional battle tower/maison. It would not add enough to the game, and not enough pepole would care

Maison and Bike Simulator doesn't take too much time to implement, since it's just copy and pasting from X/Y. Rebuilding the Emerald Battle Frontier would take much more time and they wouldn't be able to make the 2014 Holiday release date. Since only a small minority would actually care about it, they decided to drop it.

Does this throw out any possibility of anything remotely like the Battle Frontier in the future? And no, not just some Battle Tower clone like every game has now. This is getting ridiculous. First the linear regions, the handholding, and now removing features. All just because "pokemon is hard"

Honestly, it seems possible. GF chose not to implement a hard mode, which likely wouldn't require nearly as much work as a whole Battle Frontier, on the basis that they want the game to stay accesible to uber casuals. I can't see a BF coming anytime soon under Masuda.
