They put the Battle Maison just like in XY, granted, but they are directly saying that they don't want people frustrated that would drop the game. Well, those children drop the game at the same point when the game itself don't say anything about where they must go. All started with people "getting lost" in the sea in RSE, then that "Platinum was too difficult".
Even if it's a "cheating algorytm", at least they were trying with different battle mechanics. RSE had rematches with the Gym Leaders that were DOUBLE Battles. The Battles that they should be encouraging to get more people in the VGC events. Then, the PWT appeared, different Battle modes and Gym Leader rematches in just one place, and fairly well executed, but guess what, children complained about that they weren't able to defeat the Gym Leaders if the levels of the Pokémon were all the same.
GF is directly saying that the most "challenging" thing is going to be a place like the Maison when you can just stop battle by battle if you want because "keeping a full streak is too hard"... And only if we're lucky.
And yes I won all the Gold Symbols in Emerald, but even if I won't, it was a thing that encourages you to keep trying. And GF is catering to people that don't try at all.
