>>22084231I don't believe this. I just can't see how a kid could have such little attention span that they immediately stop doing something when it doesn't provide them with near-instant gratification. Keep in mind that a video game by itself is already providing gratification. Of course, that gratification rises when you achieve something in game, but it's not like playing the rest of the game is a chore, not on Pokemon at least.
People say things like these when they want to justify, for instance, why legendaries in the recent games have the catch rate of a fucking Caterpie, and it is true, but then you remember that in ORAS, they did things like keeping the catch rates of Groudon and Kyogre like in RSE, among other things. So what's with the lack of consistency? I doubt they even said something like:
>"Hey, let's keep the catch rates the same to remain true to the originals so the old fans aren't disappointed!"since they seem to ignore anything else they want for the purpose of making the games more simple.
According to their philosophy, Groudon and Kyogre should have been made to be like Dialga and Palkia and pretty much guaranteed to be caught on the first turn with a Quick Ball, but that's not the case.
This whole thing of removing the BF (and anything that takes a bit of effort for higher reward in the end) for the purpose of attracting more kids with lower attention spans just seems like a lame excuse to cover up for something else.
And obviously I'm not saying that I WANT legendaries with easier catch rates. I'm saying that it is an anomaly that they easily could have changed, but for some reason didn't.
