Also it has fucking Zen Headbutt and Iron Head.
In the early games, strong moves were hard to come by. Stringent learnsets, temporary TM's, and the like. When Combusken got Double Kick I thought it was just the strongest shit; KO'd near anything in one shot.
Now Shiny event mons are handed out with 80 bp moves on a whim. It's damn degrading.

Mate, you aren't any better then the kids nowadays.
The only proper way to win is to use random Pidgeys and Ratattas to spam growl until they die, then switch to Charmander to finish off the neutered Onix. That are use Bulbasaur or Squirtle and just win automatically.

Yes it was easy back then but nowadays we're at a point to where the game might as well cut to end credits the moment you get the Exp share or a stupidly OP pokemon they give you for free.

You can say what you want about free supermons, but the fact that Pokemon now have diverse movesets and that TMs are reusable are the best part about recent gens. Those two things alone make it hard for me to replay older gens.

I killed Onix with a Metapod that only knew harden in my first battle with Brock. Onix had taken out the rest of my team at the cost of some of its health and I only had this crap Metapod. After becoming unkillable due to spamming harden, I managed to kill it with struggle which seemed like a miracle at the time. I had no idea what the hell had just happened.

That's still tedious considering they have that piss poor AI. You would just switch out your first mon after about three E4 members because it ran out of PP on it's moves or some shit.

Anyway, don't like this shit? Play a different genre the JRPG genre isn't for you pretty much all of them require grinding and so on.
