Something about ghetsis abandoning him there, he makes friends with the pokemon, quite possibly goes schitzo and thinks he speaks for the pokemon, then ghetsis takes him back. so yeah kinda dumpsterbaby gone crazy.

In-game, a sage implies they doubt N is really Ghetsis's son. In the manga, it talks about how N was basically adopted by Ghetsis. I think his "sisters" mentioned it.

Still, the same hair color they both have makes me wonder.
