basically our current method is this:
First we split up into smaller groups, of about 4 or 3 characters, at least two of which are also writers, then we either come up ideas by brainstorming for a short bit of the story, we call them "chapters" but they're more like interconnected short stories, or we RP in the chat to get an idea of what the "chapter" will be about. Once we have enough to fill a decent number of pages, and ideally either tell a complete story or at least begin/continue/conclude one, we begin refining it. Then we write it out as prose in a shared google doc. After that we review them with whoever feels like giving criticism or critique, then we edit them to make them as close to perfect as we can (we're currently on this step for the first two chapters, while one of our members is writing chapter 3 which will be the last one we all work on together instead of in our smaller groups). After that we'll put them in a pastebin and post them to this thread and the fanfic thread.

I'd love to do a comic or at least have pictures to go along with it. Some of these scenes we come up with are just begging to be drawn out. But I can't draw for shit and all of the artists we have in the group are either too busy with real life, don't really have a style that lends itself to comics, or have never even brought it up and I'd feel like a dick asking "Hey, so we have like 10 different people and are adding more everyday, and each one has specific things they want to be evident and represented about their character, not to mention how much is going on this huge multifaceted story, so you wanna draw all that?"

And like I said, as soon as we polish up the first couple chapters we'll post em in one of these threads and any fanfic thread there may or may not be at the time. As far as I know, I'm the only NEET participant, everybody else has school or jobs to deal with, so it's taking a little while to get everything set up and actually written well and readable.

Redid mine. Nothing to much different but I will give a bit of explanation this time.

I made this not as some character, but as what it would be like if I lived in that universe. Every pokemon you see are ones that I always find myself using and have formed bonds with throughout the years. Every item you see (the ones not pokemon related) are all things I own in real life.

I hope some of you will rate and if there is someone willing, will draw my character (me).

What programs do you use for colouring? All my stuff is black and white, I should really get around to improving it.

I just draw with a pencil, scan it, and color it in GIMP with a mouse. You get used to it.

Setting all color layers to "Multiply" mode keeps them from being interrupted by or interrupting the lines.

All I can say is that I tend to swing towards unique (for better or worse) outfits on my stuff. Though, I find some justification by looking at what Gym Leaders and Frontier Brains wear.

Hey folks, I'm making an alt template because I wanted one with a transparent background.

What kind of fields do you think are most important for one of these templates in order to convey character information? I know I'm definitely cutting out all of the clothing fields, character art is plenty.

Alright, here's a rough sort of version for an alternate trainer card.

Item slots, portrait slots, and text slots are merged with the idea that people be able to get creative with how they fill them.

Starter pokemon is replaced with a "bro" slot.

Background transparent because that's superior.

We all been on our pokemon journey for years, we've saved the world countless times, beaten back and captured the most powerful creatures on earth, bred genetically perfect monsters, and even captured god himself

the only reason we're not posting with that in mind is because it would be boring, so we're creating characters of ourselves with a lot of experience under our belts. why worry about a few pseudo legendaries?

It just seems uninspired. Some of these have some neat concepts and designs for the characters, then have rosters consisting of the same old Garchomps/Aggrons/Dragonites/etc etc, regardless of what kind of trainer they've described.

It doesn't matter at the end of the day of course, people should make whatever makes them happy. I do hope to see some more with fun, dare I say plausible teams like >>22114852 for example though

Also though, a few Pokemon (such as pseudo-legends and big OU players) are picked so often not because people want to be mainstream, but because for logical reasons they are likeable, generally fighting well and looking cool. Before I even knew what the meta was, I ran a team of Tyranitar, Scizor, Azelf, Bronzong, Sandslash, and Walrein, most of which also happened to be common in Gen4's meta.

Also Aggron is objectively awesome.
