I'm nuzlocking ORAS at the moment, just finished victory road. I'm not using any healing items / status restorers in battle, nor the exp. share, and so far it's going surprisingly well. I was also playing on set mode. I lost my starter (Treecko) to a critical self-destruct relatively early on, but other than that, I hadn't lost anybody... Until that fucker with a lvl. 45 Rhyperior on Victory Road.
Going into the battle, my team was
>Buzz the lv. 42 Pinsir
>Suction-Cup the lv. 44 Tentacruel
>Bolt the lv. 47 Manectric
>Ahhnold the lv.45 Machamp
>Clody the lv.45 Golem
>Blue Devil the lv. 36 Latios (HM Slave)
Going into the battle, my lead was Manectric. I took out his Sigilyph no problem. He sends out his Rhyperior, and since I'm on set, I have to waste a turn switching out. Now my team has a pretty big weakness to ground, and I definitely didn't want to switch tentacruel out into a drill run, so I sent out Latios to take a hit and bait him into using a rock type move due to levitate. Drill Run misses latios, and I send in Tentacruel expecting stone edge or something.
Nope. Drill Run again. The fucking shitty AI was so shitty that it accidentally predicted me. Critical hit, OHKO'd my Tentacruel. I send out Machamp. I forgot that I put a macho brace on my Machamp, Rhyperior fucking outspeeds me. Hits me with drill run and does about 70% damage, hit him with ice punch which does about 80% damage to him. Now I have to switch again.
I figure I have 2 options, Pinsir or Golem. The only problem is Pinsir would get wrecked by a Stone Edge, and Golem would get wrecked by an earthquake. I decide to try and bait him again with Latios and go into Golem, hoping it works this time. He misses drill run again. I switch into Golem, and he uses Stone Edge, which does nothing to Golem. Everything was working out fine, I use Earthquake and.... Rhyperior outspeeds me. I have a brave Golem, and it lowered his speed just enough for the Rhyperior to outspeed me.
