With 15 Attack away from matching the Primals in power, I thought it would be ubers for sure. It's literally called 'ban it' for goodness sake.
Turns out there are no good physical Ghost moves, so it's pretty shit.

Relying on Shadow Claw actually wouldn't be a problem considering its neutral coverage and Banette's high attack.

The real issue is that Mega Banette isn't fast enough to outrun common offensive mons, or bulky enough to switch in constantly and sponge hits.

T-Wave anything that can be T-Waved with Prankster, allows it to outspeed and use Phantom Force which is actually a decent attacking move. If they swap to a normal type, it gets T-Waved the next turn. Destiny Bond for when all the shenanigans are over and you're about to bite the dust. Protect, obviously, to mega evolve safely.

Problem is that it was meant to be the best trick room support ever. Slow enough to fight in int, priority for when you're not under trick room or fighting something slower. They send out a slow Pokemon right after you set up trick room? Oh, you still taunt/will o wisp first and then attack it with sucker punch/shadow sneak anyway.

In concept it's good, in execution, Trick Room is awful without some kind of turn extender like light clay or weather

That's not even close to touching on why it's bad.

No strong STAB hurts a lot for sure, but it's also got no boosting and no coverage. Attack stats mean very little in terms of offensive power.

Add to the fact that it's slow, frail as fuck, and it's ability is both not good on that stat spread and not active the most important turn it needs it, and you basically get a wasted team slot.

Well, it's banned by smogon now, but I used it as a para-swagger user. I just gave it T-Wave, Swagger, Protect, and Phantom Force. It was mostly there to set up for a Choice Scarfed Imposter Ditto. I would Para-Swagger normally, but then let it die after swaggering a Physical Mega, then send out the Ditto.

The best check for anything is a faster version of itself.

Other than that, I really don't know of anything this thing can do.

This set helps me a lot except it's only downfall is it's weak against special attackers and is unable to learn Destiny Bond because Cotton Guard isn't an egg move - only Global Link.

However it's very variable to use if your opponent has a lot of physical sweepers in his/hers team.

-Snatch/Thunder Wave/WoW/etc

Revenge killer almost guaranteed to take out at least 2 pokemon with it. Mega and Sucker Punch to finish off the opponent or ready a Phantom Force if you think they'll switch. Snatch is there for predicting a dance or sub and forces an opponent to attack or switch. Feel free to use anything else in its place (though Pursuit with Sucker Punch and Snatch sounds fun too). Destiny Bond is self explanatory.

knock off on turn 1. probably pain split or wisp turn 2. priority disable is the main use of this set, which is great for fucking over things.
also pain split is cool

you must be kidding me, there is so many shit that m-banette can do that the main problem is thinking which moves to put in the set and which EV's to put (I've even seen sets with NO EV's that worked perfectly)

Shadow Claw, Knock Off, Rest, Sleep Talk.
Don't know about the EV Spread but I suppose it was Adamant with heavy investment in Bulk to sponge neutral and resisted attacks.

Both Rest and Sleep Talk have Priority thanks to Prankster so there's that.

You're stuck between having a moveset dedicated to it's obscenely high attack stat and a moveset dedicated to Prankster. You also have to time it right to mega evolve so you can get Prankster in moti.n
