In Pokemon Red I used to skip as many Gym battles as possible before getting to the Gym Leader. It's only when I saw my friend battling everyone to get all the EXP that I thought "wait a sec... you are so stupid".

Nowadays I battle everyone. Favourite game is Emerald or Platinum, hard to decide.

I make it a thing to fight the Plusle and Minun Pokefan whenever I can.

They give a lot of EXP? I would have thought on that route the Pokefan would give more with Lombre and Nuzleaf
