no but really I remember like Silver the best because of the revisiting an older region. It was cool when they did that the first time and really left an impression. After that it was no big deal but G/S/D felt like a real Pokemon sequel.

If I had to pick something newer it would probably be the Diamond and Pearl series.

Honestly, probably Alpha Sapphire.

Before it came out, it was Emerald for sure. Favorite region, favorite native mons, favorite music, favorite story, and the first game I actually beat. But now it is my second favorite, because it was completely revamped in AS.

Everything I loved about Emerald is in AS. But there are so many new additions that make it so much better. The graphics, the leveling, the online, physical/special split, everything about Gen. 6 put into Gen. 3 makes my cock stiff.

Diamond and HG are also good, and come in as a tie for third.

Platinum. The region was consistent and had a nice theme of winter and mountains. The sotry was also alright without feeling forced. I liked most of the original characters like Team Galactic and Looker (Cynthia can burn though).
The dex of Platinum also had a nice size with good options. I also liked most of the new pokémon from gen IV, but of course with exceptions.
Emerlad is my runner up, but the lack of the phys/spec split brings it down a bit.

Nostalgia maybe, but I love the unique sprites of the GB/C era that didn't look exactly like the anime. To me, the anime drawings are bland and stale looking while the old sprites had personality. I also liked the colors a lot more, they were bolder and more distinct while most everything currently looks desaturated. And black was actually black and not purple or gray.

I love the Johto region and its mysterious atmosphere, the ruins of Alph, the whirl islands, etc

Loved the Bug Catching Contests, the day/night system, and almost all of the new monsters. Heracross, Skarmory, Scizor, Steelix, Tyranitar, Murkrow are still some of my favorite designs ever.

The music was just the right blend of soothing and eerie

And of course having two regions was great, even if they were both gimped. I was really disappointed to find HGSS didn't do much of anything to alleviate this.

And there were more little things here and there that made it seem like the dev team really tried their hardest that gen.

Only thing I can really knock it down was that weather teams dominated online play, and XY's introduction of 3-31 IV mon + Destiny knot really made breeding and legendary capturing better.

However, I still give props to Gen2, for being what Gen1 really should have been like.

It was just a fun game to put a lot of hours into.

HGSS is right up there though. While I'm enjoying ORAS I don't see it having the replay value I'd hoped for.

But it did? Viridian Forest received a full revamp, Blain had an actual Gym, Celurean Dungeon was also expanded IIRC, while Johto got an entire new route (the one that leads to the Safari Zone) and a bunch of other goodies.

Hey man, if you like other games better because of whatever reason, that's fine.
B2W2 objectively are the best due to the amount of content, great pokemon choices throughout routes, challenge mode, huge post game, etc.

Black/White 2 was my favorite. I loved the selection of Pokemon and was able to do several vanilla runs using a completely different team each time. I also loved the redesign of Unova.

My second favorite is Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. I loved the tropical environment, although the selection of wild pokemon should have been more varied in certain areas. Tentacools, Pellipers, Marills, Golbats, and Oddishes everywhere! Bleh!! It's a shame OR/AS didn't fix this.

Coming in third is Gold/Silver/Crystal. I liked the idea of revisiting Kanto, but the level curve was whacked out and a lot of areas were redesigned for the worse. I also think they did a bad job at showing off the new pokemon. My pre-E4 team had only one Johto pokemon, and that was my starter. HG/SS didn't do much to fix that either.

Fourth is X/Y. I thought the region had far too little to do. With the berry garden, daycare, and the biggest city in the region all being adjacent to one another, there wasn't much reason to explore the region postgame.

Fifth is R/G/B/Y. Yeah it was the first game, but it has aged like milk. FR/LG fixed RGBY's issues, but the Sevii Islands was underwhelming as hell.

Last and most certainly least is D/P/P. It had the worst selection of wild pokemon ("Oh? you didn't pick Chimchar? Well I hope you like Rapidash!") and traveling from opposite ends of the region to get to the next badge was arduous. If the gym progression layout wasn't so nonsensical it would be higher up on my list despite the aforementioned.

BW is meh, but you wouldn't understand important parts of the story without it. So yes.
It also unlocks something called Memory Link if you have 2 DS/DSi/3DS/N3DS/etc and connect them both.

Which is a pushy story with a lot of focus on an annoying character that doesn't even appear until the end and a bland region. ALthough it did some stuff better than BW as in not having just new pokémon, since I'm not that fond of the gen V pokémon. The way to get the challenge mode was also idiotic(as in having to beat one game before even getting to try it).

Like I can see why those points don't matter to people and why they like BW2, but saying that it is the objectively best is just wrong.

In all honesty, Omega Ruby.

It's the one I've had the most fun with, char development, plot, MUH LORE, I actually took my time to catch them all, unlike I had ever done in any game's main storyline, and I fucking loved it.
Not to mention bike simulator, soaring, the diving, graphics, etc. So many things I can't even describe it all.
It's not flawless by any means, but it's a Pokémon game, come on.

It'd help. Its not necessary if you just wanna play the game, but if you want to understand who the hell some of those people are you should play BW first.

BW isn't bad, I liked the experiment of having all brand new pokemon, no old ones. Wasnt perfect but was solid.

Platinum, by far. In all honesty, I never got into Pokémon until late, it caught my interest in gen 4. Diamond was my first game, and then Platinum came out a year later, then I got that. Platinum was my favorite game for many reasons. First of all, even if DP wasn't awesome, it's where I encountered my favorite legendary Pokemon, Giratina. Platinum expanded on that story so much, I fell in love with it. The region, the dex, the legendary Pokemon, all of it. Amazing game, I feel like ORAS is a very close second, and BW2 was third. Well.. That's my favorite game.
