why haven't they figured out how to make the battle screen look good yet? all the games and battle sims look like ass. would be cool to see some nicely animated 2D... i threw this together, not the best example but w/e use your imagination

from what i've found, nope. i'd love to make a battle sim that had multiple backgrounds to choose from, but i don't know programming. i could make the art though, i'm doing it now just for fun

Agreed, I really wish they'd get rid of those stupid circles underneath your Pokemon and make some real fields for your Pokemon to fight on.

I mean, they already have things like those rocks that get knocked over in the background when you use certain moves, they should take that further.

Looking at this has made me realize that battle animation has been the slowest thing to progress in the history of the game. It took the 3ds to force the creators to make animations more modern but even then look at shit like blastoise. It's a travesty.

This. I can't even express how much I was annoyed at Pin Missile and Bullet Seed not even having animations. I wish for a day when we'd get completely active models and backgrounds.

I hate double kick now. All I ever saw my combusken do was little hops. Even worse when M-Blaziken actually has a kicking animation and doesn't use it for Double Kick.

The battle backgrounds in gen VI are actually quite good. The only problem is that they insist on having the circle under them in all regular battles. Look at a battle with a gym leader or evil team leader and it actually looks quite good.
