So I just picked up my copy of Alpha Sapphire today. I've been playing since gen 1 and played every game so far including spin-offs. Wasn't thinking of getting this one, but decided to anyways. So in regards to that, I haven't been following a lot about this game.

Are there any tips or things I should know while i'm playing that could be beneficial? Is the wonder trade still crap? Postgame? I don't care about spoilers.

yay, i heard they give you the X&Y exp share super early and takes the fun out of the game. Although you can turn it off. I remember being underleveled alot in the originals.

You should take advantage of dex nav when capturing pokemon for your team. They can posses hidden abilities and eggs moves as well as often possessing good ivs. Chaining also increases the odds of finding a shiny as well as the number of perfect ivs. They also often carry useful hold items.

You could play blindfolded and still beat it. Turn off the exp. share if you want to alleviate some of the easyness. Maybe have a rotating team so you're not rushing through.

Yes, still crap. It's gotten a little better since the game's been out a couple weeks, but you're still likely to get 90% early route shit.
>Postgame
Delta Episode is cool as fuck, but it's short and only happens once. There's an assload of legendaries to encounter, but there's no Battle Frontier like in Emerald, just the Maison from X/Y again (which some people prefer, I guess).

do you just keep finding the same pokemon and clicking the search to level it up and see more of that specific pokemon? Like, just keep making pokemon in the grass be ziggy and keep searching it and running near it until another appears?

After you have one of the species, you can search specifically for it, just hit search and it should pop in the grass/cloud(caves)/sea

i've never really liked games that punish you for doing good. That's why i don't play sports games and get way too mad at mario kart. I hate the "catch up" mechanic for games and having them call it "difficulty." No, that's cheating

You remember the rustling grass in gen V? Encountering Pokemon using the dexnav is a bit like that. But yes, you can make certain Pokemon appear in these spots by searching for them, and the more you do, the more likely you'll be to find cool shit

Took me the same solid ~50 hours that all Pokemon games do just to beat the Elite Four.

Take your time. Dick around with contests, secret bases, dexnav, whatever takes your fancy. You CAN blow through the game in a day if you want, but whats the rush?

Turn Exp Share off (unless you're planning on rotating pokemon a LOT) and do set battles.

UP, I am the same as you.. except I caved half way through day one cause of /vp/.

EXP Share off is a given. As well as dex nav is the tits.

Save before the final floor in Sky Pillar. Rayquaza is given to you basically, so any Pokeball will work at some point.. super easy.

Space Virus was super easy too... had him in the yellow with an ultra ball.

Save too be sure.
