This is from the DVD wasn't it.

Anything depicted from that isn't necessarily true, especially the food chain (even when the pokedex stated that Ekans eat Pidgey eggs and Pidgeot hunts Magikarps).

Therefore, those were there solely for marketing purposes.

If I remember correctly, the original poster of the style guide had a friend who worked for a graphic design firm that was closing down. The friend grabbed this because it was going to be thrown out and he thought the OP would be interested in it.

Pretty much, though the "No Changing the fucking color of the fucking logo" is bullshit though, but explains why we didn't get a matching color theme of each versions. I also understand the no Monsters rule since Pocket and Monsters in the same sentence could cause confusion with another Game Product, and could cause a potential lawsuit.

well wtf then! In the west/east/alloverthefucking place it is a general rule to keep your logo the same. It represents your business, franchise, or whatever. The logo in the west is good enough, and it shows exactly what pokemon is.....and what it is is a kids game. Gets more enraged when guy he already fired says it's just a stupid kids thing, "if you do not understand the genius,and happiness that is pokemon you do not deserve to work on this team."

Forces the whole office to play the game and if they can't even beat the first gym he fires them.

You and all the other autists in this thread have clearly never worked in the corporate world. These are guidelines for external companies making things like figures and quiz books who GameFreak, The Pokemon Company and Nintendo might not have had any previous dealings with and might not trust. Its there to absolve them of responsibility and communicate their expectations. Of course the games, tcg and anime break these rules because they're created by people who have control over the IP and who trust each other not to damage the franchise's reputation. Iwata could order a game to be made where Ash fucks Misty and Misty lays an egg if he wanted to. These are guidelines for people Nintendo, TPC and GF don't know very well and don't trust not to fuck up their reputation.

And if you think they're being over-zealous, I'd like to refer you to the incident in 2013 where google searches for "Pokemon X" where coming up with a "Pokemon XXX" video on xvids and parents went apeshit saying GF shouldn't have called the game "Pokemon X" because children might stumble upon illicit images while searching for it.

Otherwise they could have made saner rules regarding the other things, like for example no gore or imagery of mons feeding on other mons, no reference to sexual intercourse or no depictions of dead mons... They may be trying to be careful but they wrote several "facts" that are not true, they could have at least said the truth but emphasized on that these facts are not to be represented.

I've never heard about the Pokémon X incident actually, if anything it was mostly an epic maymay on the Internet. I just made a quick google search & didn't find any links concerning this... Care to tell more/provide links?

Again, these rules are made to be so simple an idiot could understand them, so that when x company fucks up they can say "well, we clearly in the guidelines not to do it". Its designed to cover every possible situation so they can't be sued and so cover their own asses. The corporate world is a war of words, legislation and image, not logic and truth. Its sad, but that's the way it is. If there's any loopholes in that guidebook, it could result in an external company doing something that damages Nintendo of any of its affiliate's reputations.

With so much risk at stake, they NEED to make these guidelines so crystal clear they can be understood by retards, because in the case something, anything, fucks up defense lawyers could damage a lot of people's reputations and jew them out of millions.
