I hope she is a candidate for a mega evolution although it's probably not in the cards given the large amount of bugs that have already received favor. If she does get a mega, I think they should make her a bug/rock type. They can justify that because of the gem she has on her forehead as well as the fact that she is one of the few pokemon in the game to learn power gem.
Alternately (preferably perhaps), they could keep her bug/flying typing but give her an ability that makes her immune to rock moves. If they were to use a concept similar to this picture, the idea would be that her minions deflect rocks/protect her from them. It would also give her a niche in the game as the only Pokemon to be immune to rock, which would go some ways to justify a mega.
I like Mega Beedrill but I always liked Vespiquen too. The queen bee concept was done pretty well but unfortunately she is not very good.
