It looks like the ORAS probability for legendary shinies is much easier than any other game. If you go through youtube you're going to see a bunch of vids of people just getting it in a few hundred SRs or a few thousand at most.

So for those of you hunting ORAS legendaries as your first hunts just stick with with it. You'll get it in a few thousand tops. Wouldn't be surprised at all if you got it in a few hundred

I don't know if any of you care/remember but I was working a shiny mono-grass team for OR/AS. Well good news, I finished it!
I actually hatched the final one (Tropius) while I was on the train heading to the store. I was so happy. I really didn't think I'd hatch it in time.

So now they're all rare candied to level 5 and waiting to be sent over because my friend still hasn't gotten OR/AS (thinking of getting him it for Christmas). I even removed their egg moves for now so they're not too OP.

I kind of want a theme for their nicknames. At the moment they're all named after strains of weed (something I did back in original Sapphire) but I really want to change it because it was funny then but now it's stupid. I don't even smoke.

Any ideas? And how're you guys liking OR/AS? ;_;

Also cross-posting from another shiny thread, but I finally got the shiny Treecko I’ve been hatching for, took about 27–30 boxes. Unburden male with 31/31/31/31/31/x. Happy it had the hidden ability but oh well on the speed. Gonna wonder trade so many treecko.

On Friend Safari now trying to reclaim the shiny Duosion my partner accidentally lost for me, while still trying to get a shiny male espurr for a friend.

I love my Heatran, but Suicune is probably my favorite legendary ever. I'll get a shiny one, one day though. I got my Heatran when I first got Pokemon Y, I was doing wonder trade and this beauty came to me.

The only other shiny I ever had was a shiny Dratini i hatched in FireRed (the last pokemon I played before I got Y)

3 stars, 10 levels higher, egg move from a chain of only 25 without shiny charm. Second time I tried for one, my first chain randomly broke at 63.

I never really understood when some people talk about DexNav chaining. Does it work just like fishing chaining? Do you just search for the same target over and over again until you get a shiny?

With the DexNav feature, you can search for specific pokemon once you catch it at least once. Just tap the Pokemon icon on the DexNav and it searches for you. Once you sneak up on it and catch/kill it, the bottom screen returns to the info page of that Pokemon and you can search for more.
It's kind of like PokeRadar chaining but with sneaking up on the Pokemon.
Also I use it more for Hidden Abilities/Egg moves and not really for Shinies, since it's a lot easier to get the Egg Moves now.

Well, I have OR, so I know exactly how the radar function works. I just didn't know it was possible to build up the shiny chance by doing it repeatedly. Nor did I know if KOing, fleeing from, or encountering a different Pokemon would break said chain.

I tested it and I came up with the following hypotheses during my first few chains
-Every chain of 5 increases the base level of the Pokemon by 1 (i.e. it starts at lvl 13 but at 90 encounters it's level 31), but resets at 100 chains (but chain counter doesn't reset)
-KO/Catching adds +1 to a chain, running (either you or the pokemon) will break the chain
-Encountering non-dexnav mon breaks the chain, but encountering different dexnav mons (i.e. dexnav zigzagoons then switch to poochyenas) doesn't, as indicated by their level jumps
-If it's a Cave/Water mon, they are complete assholes and nearly impossible to chain after 5 since they disappear really fast.
Obviously, higher chain implies better stuff on the dexnav mon, and shiny chance as well but that's assumed to be true already.

The chain length does indeed give a clearly visible bonus through the increased level per chain of 5, so I was assuming that there were underlying bonuses as well such as increasing shiny chance that caps at some chain length, and more bonuses on a pokemon (like getting a 3-IV, Egg Move, HA, +10 level in one go)
I'd like to see this with a larger sample size in order to confirm it though, but my Chatot and Trubbish were 91 and 165 respectively and my Scraggy was at 60, so it might be correct

in y i've gotten 4 [as of now] shinies by breeding [drifloon, rotom, solosis, and charmander], an octillery by chain fishing, and i think i found a shiny clefairy while walking out of a friend safari too.
that's all i think besides the terrakion from white 2 and the accidentally killed tranquill
