Just out of mere curiosity, from someone who has never played a rom hack, do rom hacks generally completely deviate from the standard pokemon formula, or are they more reskins of pokemon games just with new characters, cities and species distribution.

Seems there's no retarded stuff going on.

The region looks like a reskin of Kanto so far, except where I am, where the Pokémon League gate should be. Looks like it's an entire new route. Not that it looks better or anything.

I've also caught a Shuckle offscreen while grinding DICKU, and took it's berry juice and gave it to it

I also noticed that Pikachu is holding a Light Ball. The reason its Thundershocks were so powerful.

Forgot to mention that Marisa finally learned a Fire-type move, Dragon Meteo. It has 95 power, 90% accuracy, and has a chance of flinching.

So Koga's team, now that I'm not getting rekt to hell and back by Chen, is EChen (Ground), EHina (Poison), EYameme (Ground/Bug), EEirin (Water/Poison), EMedicine (Grass/Poison), and EWriggle (Bug). Specialized around Toxic and Evasion like normal Koga.

Bruno uses ESara (Fighting), EYuugi (Ground/Fighting), EKeineH (Steel/Fighting, seems to be an alt evo to EKeine), EMeiling (Fighting/Dragon and the only Dragon-type outside of Iku and a Legendary), EMokou (Fire/Fighting), and Hakurei (Psychic/Fighting and oddly only a two-stage evo line).

Karen still uses Dark-types. ELily B (Dark), EParsee (Ghost/Dark), EFlandre (Fire/Dark), Shinki (Dark/Psychic, also two-stage), EYuuka (Grass/Dark), and ERemilia (Dark/Flying).

EFlandre and Shinki were each at Lv. 58 so I am VERY glad I spent time grinding.

Champion Lance.

He uses Lv. 58 Sanae (Grass/Water)
Lv. 59 ESuika
Lv. 58 EYoumu (Ghost/Steel)
Lv. 58 EShikieiki (Steel/Psychic)
Lv. 59 EIku (Electric/Dragon)
and caps it with Lv. 60 ETenshi (Ground/Rock)

My +6 Minimize Brightpowder ESuika swept the entire team without taking a single hit somehow.

Upon winning, we enter the Tohomon Hall of Fame, etc., the end. Shame they didn't edit the credits to have 2humons dancing around considering they changed every other instance of Pokémon appearing or being mentioned.

So, questions, comments, etc.? I don't have anything to play, I went through the whole /vr/ list, so I'm going to have to find something, and I'm still listening for suggestions. 2humon was fun but it's pretty much just a difficulty hack if not for the Fakemon 2hus.

Maybe I'll look for something cringey since I just played a bunch of good (or at the worst mediocre in the case of TRE) hacks in a row.

/rhg/, I just started playing light platinum and though it's probably one of the most asthetically pleasing rom hacks I've played the story line makes me cringe. Is their any rom hack the compares to its looks but stays true to any mainline game? Bonus points for a platinum remake

Voted for Gaia only. The hack brings back a combination of style of Fire Red mapping w/ new tiles, keeping the same essence; storyline is not some stupid OC Fanfic, level curve is nice and actually has attention to Gen VI mechanics.

So our player choices are the fedora tipper and the Chansey girl from DPPt.

Our starter is a Lv. 25 Marowak (spoopy), and all the kids, every year, suddenly stop listening to adults and run around in tiny circles (double spoopy). One girl who isn't brainwashed says she can see ghosts in the window (triple spoopy).

We trick or treat for some Rare Candies, and stop some "thugs" egging the Pokémart. They call me a kid but the "thug boss" looks to be maybe 8 years old. Off to a great start.

There being fuck-all to do in this one city you can't leave, I go to Silph Co.

Talking to the guard gives you a choice of options. You can bribe him (give him all your Rare Candies and he leaves), trick him (tell him your mom wants to see him and he leaves), intimidate him (he battles you and has a Lv. 100 Arcanine that OHKOs you), or show him your badge to have him step to the side.

If you keep showing him your badge he'll keep walking to the left, clipping through the sign and fence.

Silph Co. is apparently closed for "water leaks, illegal practice and Pokemon Experamentation." Inside the building the "elveator" isn't working and there's water everywhere.

That's part of why I try to play really shitty hacks, it's entertaining just hearing about how awful they are so my humor deficiency can be supplemented

Maybe I should just stop since I lack charm, I'm mainly doing it to keep the thread bumped nowadays since it's getting hard to find legendarily bad hacks like Ruby Destiny

Finished except the arches, cave entrances and the league building, but that's enough for one night. Picture for ants again because lazy and don't want to spoil too much. Point is more to highlight how complicated the cliffs are for this town/route. Nothing really compares to it in the game.

Got the bad ending!

The whole tower is filled with ghost scientists. Most of them refuse to talk to you and a few turn into wild Haunters if you do.

At the top two floors the scientists are gone and we get a ghoste. He tells about how EVIL humanity is and how he was horribly experiemented on and how he'll kill every human and take over the world of the living!

Fedoratipper tells him how not all humans are bad yadda yadda and the ghost says if he beats him in a battle he'll spare the world, but if he loses he'll kill them all, oh no.

He only has a Lv. 100 Gengar and there's no way to not get OHKO'd.

After defeat, he winks your Marowak out of existence and you get a cutscene in pic, telling you how a new reign of edge began thanks to you losing, and telling you Game Over.

There is apparently a good ending to get so I'll have to try to get that, but really? The bad end path consists of two trainer battles, an optional unwinnable third, and a few wild Haunters. They said the game was short but that's retardedly brief.

Ugh. This hack is badly made on the tier of Yellow Adventures.

If you talk to a girl in the PC she says ghost shards are falling from the sky and gives you an Itemfinder.

But there's NOTHING to find. I've used it on every floor around every corner and there's fucking nothing. Oh except a shelf with Pokéballs that wasn't picked up by the Itemfinder. What's the fucking point of having it? Having it doesn't change any scripts by the ghost trainer either.

There are like five NPCs total that say anything at all to you and none of them are giving any help. There's a computer that, in the screenshots the hacker gave, opens the elevator, but going to that computer does jack shit (though it does give a unique message). I can't even get hacking tools to work to do something like find what tiles activate scripts, or get cheats to work to do something like raise my Marowak to Lv. 100 to see if beating the ghost does anything.

The thread I got the hack from has the hacker saying "talk to the girl in the PC to get started" but it's just the girl that gives you the Itemfinder that fucking does nothing. How incompetent do you have to leave the player this stumped when there's one fucking town with literally four buildings you can go to?

Okay so I suppose I was technically wrong. Clicking a random tile had me find a Ghost piece, even though it wasn't shown by the Itemfinder so I guess it's given to you through some special script. I found one before getting the Itemfinder, and each time I've gotten one they seem to do fuck-all, and I can't even tell what they're saying because the text is glitched.

This is a fucking pixel hunt with zero markings on where you have to click, it really fucking is like Yellow Adventures. I'm not sure if I have the patience for this.

Hey guys, it's been a few years now and i still don't know if a HGSS and a Platinum rom have been hacked together. Those two are my favorite games, and it would be so cool if after you beat HG, your pokemon get scaled for the continuation in Platinum (or if the teams and wild pokes in Platinum are upgraded). That would be the coolest game ever.

Sounds like wayyy too much work getting the regions to both fit with all their data. We don't even have a game combining FireRed with Emerald, and we have exponentially more knowledge and tools with those games than Gen IV.

Also fuck this game. Spent hours trying to find how to possibly advance the plot, nothing. Looks like humanity is getting massacred, all 5 non-brainwashed people in the hack, because no amount of playing will advance this plot and I'm done with it.

Anon, the thing is there's not too much to talk about anymore, it seems, outside of ORAS hacking nothing major is really being developed and quality hacks aren't very often being made.

I'm not sure how to stimulate discussion besides more playthroughs, and I think people have had enough of those for now due to the lack of interest in such, so I can't think of any options.
