I just hatched the Wynaut egg and have the sudden urge to use him on my team.
Is using Wobbuffet in a normal playthrough a good idea? I've always been confused with how he plays.

you just need mirror coat and counter, because NPCs arent going to try to status or stall wobby

I kept it in my party leveling it with the exp share

I know, I had a lot of pokemon going. it was about level 45 at the e4. I sent it out against drake's salamence, used counter for OHKO. repeat for steven's armaldo.

>tl;dr use it against pokemon that are obvious attackers/big hitters and watch them die. its obvious enough what will use an attack and what will use a sp. attack

I was afraid either Wobbuffet was too good, wrecking everything and leaving nothing left for other party members or bad, have to rely on other Pokemon all the time.
Using him solely for heavy hitters sounds like it could be really fun, I'll use him.
What item do you think he should hold? I was thinking Rocky Helmet, does it work even work with Counter?

yeah he's fun to use once in a while. no means of recovery so you can't abuse it, the rest of your team will still have lots of play time.

rocky helmet works with counter, leftovers or sitrus berries would work well too

He's a pain to level, because unlike most of your team you can't just sweep random trainers, he needs to take hits to give hits. As such you're either going to be going back to pokecentres a lot or burning through potions.

He's a beast for the E4 or other big trainer battles though.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, it really sucks we don't have the old Exp. Share any more as I could just throw that on him. I refuse to use the new one.
I'm thinking whenever it's his turn to level (as I like to keep everyone around about the same level) I'll just send and switch when it's his turn.
