Between Red and Green the obvious third version was Blue, since those are the three primary colors of light. This is the only time this has happened, though.

Gold and Silver? Bronze or Platinum would be the obvious third version name, but we got Crystal.

Ruby and Sapphire? Sure, Emerald is another precious stone, but it could have been anything, and while Emeralds are green, so are Peridots, and that's even the birthstone between Ruby and Sapphire's months, so it might have actually made more sense.

Diamond and Pearl has the same situation as Ruby and Sapphire.

Black and White's obvious third version would have been Grey, but we never even got a third version.

So why are people so convinced of a "Z" version?

"Dolphin" is a fictional term created by no-nothing fools in-order to market "entertainment" (read: enslavement). Saying Whales aren't dolphins is like saying a Dog isn't a Pomeranian, it's irrelevant, and only precedes to show off just how ignorant you really are.

Kyurem is the only Dragon/Ice Pokemon, and as such has a nice place on my mono dragon team. Zygarde is the third Dragon/Ground Pokemon, and is outclassed in every way by Garchomp.

but, hell, when you're expecting an equivalent to rayquaza to calm down reshiram and zekrom, you are facing serious disappointment... I caught this shit with a single nest ball (in my langage it is called "faiblo ball" which is a little bit more insulting) when I saw its base stats, I don't even bothered reseting and left it amongst bidoof and patrat...

I caught Rayquaza with a single Ultra Ball when I played AS but that doesn't mean Ray sucks. Lore also doesn't matter for how good a Pokemon is competitively.

Zygarde also has shitty stats (relatively speaking) so I still don't see how Kyurem is worse, besides that you were expecting more out of it than you got.
