My final verdict after 60 hours of gameplay, with the last 20 completing the Dex.
Pros:
+ Improved characters/dialogue
+ Actual lore/world building in Delta Episode, lots of connections between Kalos and Hoenn
+ Music remixes were executed way better than HG/SS and FR/LG
+ Region is beautiful in 3D, makes Kalos looks washed out and bland
+ DexNav makes catching fun instead of a chore
+ Soaring
+ Flying to routes and side locations
+ Touch screen is useful again
+ Breeding paradise
Cons:
- No Battle Frontier
- Framerate issues haven't been fixed
- Too much hand-holding in main story, more linear and simplified areas
- Insultingly easy difficulty, Team Admins and Gym Leaders were a joke even without EXP share
- Nothing to do after Delta Episode except bike simulator 2014 and completing the dex, maybe Secret Bases and Contests if you're into it, that depends on you
- No Emerald trainers or Gym Leader teams
- Online experience ruined by broken Pokemon
- Singe player experience ruined by cutting corners
6/10. Gamefreak has pulled a "two step backwards, one step forward" on this one. The next game will determine the fate of the series, in my eyes. I just want a complete single player experience, not some half-assed one covered by gimmicks.
