Kinda stupid question, but I got the games about three days ago, so bear with me:

Are the teams automatically leveled down to 50 like in many other battle places? I scanned a few Blissey bases and all of them had level 50 Pokemon. Not sure if it's intended or not.

There's a level release item you can place in your base that will turn off level limits when active.

Thank, debating a warp panel in the narrow horizontal passage but that might be overkill, plus I'm already dying for item space. This is the only layout I can pull off something simple, cozy, and marginally clever though, plus the mood light actually looks nice on stone gray/blue. Mood light always looked like ass with poop brown no matter the shade, I've tried that before too many times.

Forgive me Lord etc but I can't remember how you get the statue in the original RSE. In ORAS the Lilicove gallery curator gives it to you after you win each contest Master Rank 3 times/fill out the portraits, I would imagine it was the same as RSE.

Which part doesn't happen to you?

Leave PSS online, Secret Bases are updated each 8 hours or so. They won't get updated if you're inside one. When you see the update icon in BuzzNav, update then and check the new ones. Talk twice to the trainers inside to see how many flags they have, and if they have a good number (>30) add them as Pals. Go to your base and talk to them, and sometimes they will give you extra flags. Remove them after you talked.

Updates seem to be time dependent, so if you mess with your system's clock, you'll have to wait longer for them.
I don't think it's eight hours since all of yesterday it only updated twice... One in the morning, nothing in the evening, and once again at night.

Put a good amount of work into this. Got my first Lv. 100 outta this. Also, I spent most of my time fucking with my base when I should've been catching Groudon or doing something important with my life.

It's in Jagged Pass, so bring a bike (either one, doesn't matter).

You get slight upgrades to the items you can buy, upgrade to the grunts in your base, and cool tricks like a jukebox or a lamp for your base.
You get them by visiting people's bases and pressing A in front of their flag.

That's the ice statue for Pidgeot (all master categories, 3 times each). For chandelier, you just need to beat Master with Lisia appearing ONCE.

Well as I said, it was fun for the first two times and then got really annoying.
Hunting flags I like very much. It's fun to see what other people came up with and I got lucky and got to gold in like two days (once I found it was needed for that fucking sexy lamp, of course I hurried).

... Except this last passerby update where THREE different people decided to be assholes and block their flag, or their entrance completely.... But it's ok, that glittering flag is so great I'm in no hurry..

Well, they give you one flag per day, so it's not that bad. Plus, most of the anons that post here have put some effort in making a special base.
70 percent of the random you get are the avatar standing in an empty base and a level 20 in game team...

you can get more if you collect their base flags and then recruit them to your secreet pals
then at your base they can give you more IF they've collected flags on that day

i.e. someone who says theyve collected little to no flags before you recruit them will probably give you none

Yeah, also if you go back to the base Aarune made you do, or if you make a new one, form the PC there you can scan QR codes and specially designed bases will appear.
Also, when you "add them as friends" they will show up in your base and will do stuff for you, like finding a berry, leveling up your pokemon or give a massage.

I used the OP's method to get to 500 pretty quickly, I haven't bothered to get to 1,000 yet, as I don't consider the confetti ball and sparkly flag to be worth the extra effort, and I can just trade my Garchompite in from Y if I ever need it.

Just people with more than 30 was my cutoff. If you add people even though they've only collected 1 or 2 flags then they probably won't give you any flags when you talk to them in your base.

Interesting thing I discovered: if you challenge someone in a secret base while you (the player) are standing on a patch of fake grass, there are going to be grassy circles under the Pokémon's feet during the battle.
Might be useful for a Grass-type gym.

What moves does the battle area affect, again?

One "application" I can think of is a Grass team with a Florges that knows Camouflage (an egg move), which would change it to a Grass type and make Flower Veil affect itself.
