Why is this battle theme so divided among the fans? Usually there is a majority, but this one seems to be split almost in half when it comes to being good or not with the people.

i think the trumpets / trumpets within the limitations of the sound system produced a specific effect.
listen to the intro of the two songs above, the old one just sounds so more overwhelming than the new one.

this is what i felt about the elite four / champion music!

not sure if /vp/ is into speedruns but generation 3 was super hype on WR pace with the help of that music

In my opinion, the battle themes are really, lazily done and I really wish that GF handed over the job to Ichinose instead of Kageyama. Most of the battle themes are just the originals, watered down, with some repetitive beats layered on to them. As a result, the lose some of the "spirit" of the originals. They were really underwhelming, compared to music of FRLG and HGSS, though I really wanted something akin to FRLG arrangements.

The only battle themes I really liked were the weather trio themes. The team leader theme comes close but is again held back by repetitive techno shit beats that for some reason, seemed to be a main thing among most of the battle themes in ORAS. Zinnia's battle theme sounded like some generic shit that you'd find in FF or Kingdom Hearts.

FRLG did the soundtrack perfectly.
Hypest champion music in the whole series, narrowly beating cynthia.
I think the fact that he was an asshole and actually quite difficult to beat may have made the theme more hype.

Oh my god, this theme. I love it so much. Hands down my fave poke track ever.

I had mostly forgotten a large part of RSE, probably because it was so long ago, and my interest in the series had waned a bit (I remember the first two gens like the back of my hand).

When I heard this theme for the first time, I got a huge rush of "I think I remember this!" and "This is really good!"

I listen to it all the time. Hearing the intro still makes me smile.

Not every battle theme remix was done by Kageyama, though, Adachi (and Kuroda) arranged some too. I agree in that Ichinose should have participated, he's my favorite GF composer and he hasn't composed anything new for Pokémon since B2W2.
