Serial Code ones don't replace Wi-Fi events. They still exist and there is one going on right now.

In the west, Serial Codes replace in-life events because greedy cunts at Gamestop kept stealing distribution cards.

In Japan, they use serial codes when the method of distribution warrants it, such as here with Pokémon Get TV or through magazines

One of the anon givers from /gg/ brought in a Contrary Serperior and bred it so it could be 6th gen native with its HA. It was given out as Snivy with some Powersaving done to its stats & gender, and EoS raised it to be Serperior.
