That's like half of the game price and instead being sold as a DLC, it should have been in the game and not sold as a separate gimmick.
I dunno, not really warming up to the idea. It's optional after all and is good for those who want that stuff. Though I think that Expansion Pack is a bit pricey.

You battle the four badges of types you don't have in the game you're playing (Bug/Grass/Fairy/Ice or Fire/Normal/Flying/Water), explore the region a bit more streamlined, and then after taking them down get a ticket for the Battle Frontier. It's like G/S but designed to try all the features of the other games.

There's a ton of DLC for the 3DS mystery dungeon game and physically locked content for the Wii U Rumble game

They probably think it's okay now since nobody complained about those
