Seriously, the first battle was Ash winning with a Pokémon he'd never used before, the second and third battles were snippets so we could have shitty Team Rocket crap nobody wants to see, then the Ritchie one was more Team Rocket filler, followed by Charizard's anticlimax.
What they should have done was skip Team Rocket, add another 3 vs. 3 against some random trainer, than had Ash vs Ritchie be 6 on 6 with Charizard being Ash's 6th Pokémon, falling asleep and refusing to battle against Ritchie's nearly defeated 6th.
