Pokemon is a hard game ain't it?

You can storm the Maison quickly and easily, you just have to use strong shit.
I use Mom/Assvest Conkeldurr/Specs Sturdy Magnezone and just do singles because its the fastest.

Granted sometimes shit happens and you hit yourself 4 times in a row in confusion or Sucker Punch misses 3x because Froslass is in the hail set up by Abomasnow so then Mom is down and then Froslass takes ~half of Conkeldurr's HP before T-punch finally hits and then Swampert comes out and flinches you with Waterfall leaving only Magnezone so your fukt in battle 96 kiddo.

But thats just something you have to deal with and jump right in again instead of coming here and bitching because you lost on battle 21 because your in-game team does not blow through something specifically tailored to -not- let you blow through them.

Only thing I ever hate about the postgame battle facilities is how blatantly they start to pack teams that exist solely to counter yours after a while

i'm with you, OP. I wish that the AI in the main game were smarter or that their pokemon were higher levels because it's far too easy (and it has only gotten easier). However, the battle maison and other facilities like it are staggeringly more difficult. that's not a problem in and of itself (challenges can be fun to overcome); the problem is that overcoming that difficulty requires a shitload of time grinding for EV training, time for breeding, time to accumulating BP to get the hold items you need, etc. I appreciate that it's less time than it used to be, but it's still more than I would like to spend for the amount of fun that I get from it. If I want competitive-style battling, I'll go to Showdown, where I don't have to spend any time to get the team that I want.

Nothing against those who enjoy the in-game competitive battling; it's just not for me.

You need 16 BP for each EV boosting item, otherwise it takes 30-45 minutes to EV train using hordes.

do normal singles and you're good to go. Once you get all 6 items (or less, depending on the team you want to build) you have unlimited access to training every single pokemon you have.

It's funny hoiw people complain about the games being easy but they want even more casualness to success on a competitive facility

are you implying that making EV training, IV breeding, leveling and getting getting hold items less of a grind to perform makes you more successful in competitive battling? as if the time sink is what is required for success and not intelligent team planning and clever playing during battle were not what are required for success?

is the grind of team building (as opposed to team PLANNING or even team PLAYING) such an integral part of the game that reductions to its importance are really "ruining" the game?

You really don't even need super-competitive Pokemon to beat the Chatelaines the first time. Just super train some good Pokemon in vaguely competitive ways, then sweep.

You only need to git gud for the Super Chatelaines. And that's why the Battle Tower/Subway/Maison is still a good post-game. It give you a goal to work towards that takes time and effort, even if you only care about single-player.

Not necessarily. I never used megas and my only OU mon was garchomp. Heck my lead is UU machamp. I fail to see how people using a conkeldurr cant secure a win when i did using an "outclassed" mon. The other one i used is UU milotic. It's just strategy.

The Battle Maison is for post-game challenge. Gamefreak has tried to appeal to multiple demographics. The main game is designed to be easy so that people of all ages and gaming experience levels can enjoy it. The post-game, such as the Battle Maison, is brutally difficult but offers something for players deterred from the piss easy story mode.

I personally enjoy the Battle Maison a lot and feel that it made sense to include something in the post game of this difficulty level. Making it easier would be a travesty in my opinion.

If you really have been at this a while then you know that your lead is the most important mon. Kanga wipes all three opponent mons by itself at least 80% of the time and your lead is certainly no shitmon like you are trying to make it seem.

Actually the grinding is lazy way of fooling the player into thinking the game is really, really long. Take that out, you get maybe 2 hours of actual gameplay.
