I'm more bothered by the fact that Maxie's final team is Mightyena, Crobat, and Camerupt. Why the everloving fuck does he have only one Ground type? He should've had Flygon, Grumpig/Claydol, and Sandslash on his team.

Because somehow a random Poison Kanto mon is a better fit for his team than Flygon or Claydol. I'm disappointed too, I wanted him to have another Ground type. They couldn't even keep the Baltoys that Magma grunts had in Emerald.

Team Magma/Aqua have always had this problem.
Maxie's Camerupt was always physical and his team was always Camerupt + Generic villain pokemon.

Shouldn't you Hoennfags be glad they stayed true to the original games?

Maxie should have had more ground types though and a full 6 mon team. Fucking Gamefreak needs to make the games more difficult again. For one thing, the current exp. share shouldn't be given to the player until either the post-game or right before the elite 4.

Admittedly though, the battle against Groudon shortly after was pretty difficult. It's got three great attacking moves (Earthquake, Precipice Blades, and Sun-boosted Lava Plume) and fucking Rest.

It did feel pretty epic when I was down to my last Pokémon after getting most of my team one-shotted but still managed to capture it though.

Fainting it is of course pretty easy. Catching it requires you to tank a few hits, though, and that's not easy with the base 180 attack stat.

Tanking it wasn't a problem for me as I had Altaria - 2/4 moves didn't effect and Lava Plume did basically nothing. The only problem was Rest.

That helps, but it's very specific. Most Pokémon aren't both immune to Ground AND resistant to Fire. My Flying type was Skarmory, for example.

Besides, Altaria has trouble getting Groudon into the red before it Rests again, no? It doesn't have great offensive stats before mega evolution, and I haven't found its Mega Stone yet I think (I'm just past Groudon).

You get its Megastone from the guy outside the fanclub in Lilycove City. Although, I wouldn't recommend using M-Altaria against it as it loses its flying type. Also, the fact that Altaria couldn't do anything was my only problem. Had to use an Ether on Dragon Pulse around 5/6 times.

There are other exclusives that make more sense, like Solrock and Lunatone or Zangoose and Seviper, or Shiftry and Ludicolo. There's no reason why they had to give them exclusives anyway, especially not ones that make no thematic sense and aren't even Hoenn mons. It would have been so easy to choose a Ground type for Maxie and a Water type for Archie yet they went with a couple of generic 'evil' Poison mons. It's a small thing but it annoys me.
