BW2 was objectively the better game, but it actually offered very little if you played BW first. It was basically a Jewish cash-in instead of a real sequel.

Unova is the best Pokemon region. The towns were great and mostly stood out. Castelia, Mistaltron and Nimbasa were particularly great. The routes were large and full of things to explore. They also were memorable. Gamefreak's decision to only have new Pokemon during your playthrough also made the game feel less like a retreading of previous games. Also Gen V has some of my favorite Pokemon in the series such as Escavalier, Galvantula, Mandibuzz, Braviary, Bouffalant, Darmanitan, Scolipede, Krookodile and Smugleaf just to name a few.

The story in the game was also the best in the series. Gen VI tried to copy it but failed completely. The characters were great and even the gym leaders were memorable and had a role in the plot.

Well of course they are just my opinions. There is no objective way to say it is great. I think it is great for all those reasons though. It had great new Pokemon, a great region that encouraged exploration, interesting towns, interesting characters and an interesting story.

Beats the shit out of X/Y in my opinion.

The routes in X/Y, by comparison, are small as fuck. Areas like Mt. Twist and the Desert area past Castelia were great.

BW1 sucked but BW2 redeemed it.

XY was a mixed blessing and ORAS really hasnt redeemed 6th gen quite.

Pokemon Z or XY2 are gonna have to make a huge leap before I invest any more of my time and money into Pokemon

XY was meh. Gameplay was shit but they had to put time into the 3D aspects of the game so I think many people are reserving judgment. But ORAS? They already had the groundwork laid out for them. Absolutely NO EXCUSE for removing the Battle Frontier. Their response to it read like typical PR garbage too.
