I se plenty of hate for ORAS. Is there anyone here who doesn't regret buying it?
I've yet to jump in but hope to do so soon.
Does it have the same difficulty spike when you reach the Elite 4?
I remember liking Emerald but never bothered with the Battle Frontier so it's not a deal breaker that it's missing.

I think it's wise that they didn't add the frontier because that way people will be done with it faster and in time for the next games. i mean, heck, i'm still playing Y.

Not really, it's basically same, except IV checker is now in the same place as daycare

They actually slowed down the gameplay, adding screen transitions all over the place, and the only mentionable new feature is Soaring, which is basically just a slower way to fly with the upside of not having to carry a pokemon with fly

Metagross is still being debated about it's OPness, but M-Slowbro, M-Mence and M-Gross are solid at the very least.

I don't. I prefer to breed Pokémon and battle online with them and in that regard it's good as the improved breeding mechanics alone make this game infinitely better than the originals.

Unfortunately not. It's been that way for a while now to be honest and it is a bit of a pain. I turned EXP share off and still had no problem with the Elite 4. The rematches are fun though because they all have 6 Pokémon, a mega and I think the minimum level is 70 so if you do it right after Delta Episode they will be challenging as my Pokémon were level 48 at the time.

It's definitely a lot better than X and Y. Mega Rayquaza was so broken they had to make a new tier for it.
Graphics are a step up as well, less overly saturated and a lot nicer looking.

The Pokenav is really good.

You can catch any Pokémon with their hidden ability in the wild without having to worry about friend safaris or any of that nonsense.

It also allows you to catch Pokémon with egg moves and tells you what they have before you battle them along with having an indicator for how many perfect IVs they have (max of 3)

plus they add little icons for each Pokémon when you catch them and give you a different coloured crown for each area depending on how many you caught.
This actually gives you an incentive to complete the Pokédex and makes it easier to keep track of.

Min of 3 actually with 3 stars, I've been able to catch 4IV Pokemon without problems. Trying to get a Trace 5IV Porygon atm.

Genuine question here but what was missing from the Postgame apart from the Battle Frontier that people had a problem with?

I know gym leader rematches were one but I only ever had one game where this was a thing (Platinum) and while I agree they were quite fun I thought the changes they made to breeding more than made up for any small things they removed.

Sorry, I meant it will show a maximum of 3 stars rather than the most perfect IVs being 3.

Also, when you reach higher Dex levels what are the odds of encountering ones with 3 stars? I normally just breed to increase IVs but I've got no idea how likely they are at really high levels.

Gym Leader rematches and Battle Frontier are the first things. Other little things like Mirage Tower not available, Game Corner was cut (thanks europoors) and that's all I can think of. I mean, Gen III never had that big of a postgame other than BF, to be honest. They improve stuff like Rival Battles and almost every regular trainer can be rebattled, all of them having teams between Lv45-50 and give you stuff sometimes too so not being able to refight Gym Leaders is not that much of an issue for me.

In my experience, it's better to have at least a minimum of Lv25 Search Level, from there it's usually random. Every 5 chains you're surely to get from 2 to 4 "!", one of them almost sure to be Potential.

I liked it a lot. Finally got me to finish my National Dex and obtain a Shiny Charm. I haven't touched contests, Maison, or bred anything competitively and I'm clocked in at about 100 hours of gameplay.

Hunting for Mega Stones and using the Dex Nav is a lot of fun. The Mirage Islands, while cool in concept, are executed poorly since you have 0 control over what you get and there's no indicator of whether you "completed" it yet (caught all available Pokemon on said Island).
I don't have any major gripes with it and most annoyances are minor technical stuff.

tl;dr:
In my personal experience the good outweigh the bad

Oh, and I forgot something that I just found about yesterday. Not sure if it has been reported but it's better to know. If you're aiming for a specific nature or gender, you MUST have your Synchronizer/Cute Charmer as the first of your party BEFORE searching with DexNav. Wild Pokemon values are created when DexNav finds a Pokemon, not when you sneak on it

Why the fuck would i regret it? It has missed potential like the lack of BF and gym rematches, sure, but it was still an amazing game.
Though there are some things that i don't like:
-Centers and marts are two things again. But i can justify this because it's a remake.
-Lack of footprints. Again, we can see the whole Pokemon in the dex now, but still, i liked them.
-The restaurants don't give mushrooms like XY.
-Surprisingly, i never see anyone mention that the berry guidebook(or whatever it was) is missing.

Blissey bases. I get like 19,000 xp from a single Blissey when holding Lucky Egg, and there are three Blissey per base in a triple battle.

I haven't tested with Exp O-Power yet, but it's pretty fucking fast.

For quick grinding you either use E4 or even better, Blissey Secret Bases. Pic related. With Level Release they're all Lv100 with Toxic Orb and Healing Wish. Use Exp. O-Power and Lucky Egg and you'll have Pokemon above Lv70 in no time.

For money, you can rebattle the Gentleman left to Lillycove. Happy Hour, Money Prize O-Power Lv3 and Amulet Coin gives you 120k per battle. You can battle him twice if you run around a bit and talk to him again before the timer runs out. There was also a method of using PayDay against bulky Pokemon without moves in Secret Bases but I haven't tested it yet.

But the Dex Nav will display a platinum crown when you've caught everything in the area, just like anywhere else.

The changes from XY make it vastly improved, but it still feels like they could have seized more potential.

It's a good game, but it could have been even more. I enjoy it greatly.

That and I don't remember shit about Hoenn, so it feels like a new game to me because I am experiencing it again after like 12 years.

The crown indicates how many pokemon you've caught that are available in the route. A rainbow crown indicates you've caught them all.
Yes, it's easy. You need to catch the pokemon you're looking for, from there you just keep searching until it sows up. Rinse and repeat until you find what you're looking for.

Just google Blisses base QR codes, get a shit ton of them and battle them each day.

Managed to go from no Pokémon to fully bred, 5IV with all the needed moves in a few hours and most of that was breeding. Levelling a Pokémon to 100 takes no time at all.

I do agree it's a missed opportunity for a few things but "All of the Emerald features" is a bit steep.

Apart from BF (which is a bit hit and miss whether you care about it or not) they haven't missed much.

The concept of rebattling gym leaders was fun for a minute but the battles themselves were nothing special and was in no way a stand out feature of the games.

>No Mirage Tower
Mirage Tower is a shitty dungeon where you went to get a fossil. Nothing else happened and it had 2 Pokémon in it, if anything I'm glad they got rid of it and just left the fossils lying there.

>Game Corner
I think this was to do with Europes gambling laws or something but I personally never enjoyed them. Playing shitty random slot machines to get coins to get TMs was never fun in my opinion.

Pokémon, to me at least, was always about catching them all, training up strong teams and battling.

With the inclusion of the Dexnav, new breeding mechanics and online battles I'm more satisfied than I would be if they added all the gimmicks from previous games that I didn't really give a shit about.

Nah, it takes very little getting used to once you start using it in game.

I'd watch out early on though. I got KOd by a Tailow with Brave Bird early on because I was level 5 and it was level 15 or something.

Doesn't happen much later on when your Pokémon are decent but I got caught out early on.

Not saying that it shouldn't be there or that there should be special accommodations made for relatively rare conditions. It does make it pretty difficult to use though.

but then again, my view of pokemon is completely different from what you said. i always like sidequests and literal world building with new places to explore. i can't remember what emerald had that ruby/sapphire didn't, but the battle frontier is something i could care less about. too much battling in one place, man.

I don't regret it at all! Emerald was my first real game, and for a long time the entire region and 135 new pokemon were my whole life. Seeing the improvements on the graphics and muaic was the ultimate blow, and to me they are the best games ever.
